How to Change Your Android Home Screen Wallpaper

Follow the steps below to change your Android home screen wallpaper.

Note: Use the set of instructions for the Android operating system your device is currently running.

Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and above

  1. Press the home button on your Android device. This will take you to your home screen.
  2. Once you’re on your device home screen, long-press on any empty area then wait for the Set home screen dialog to appear.
  3. Under Set home screen, choose Wallpapers and then you can select your preferred wallpaper type.
    Pro tip: In Android, you can set your own photos as static wallpapers. You can also set live wallpapers.
  4. Next, select the wallpaper that you want to use from the list. You can also select a photo from your device gallery.
  5. Make some final adjustments to your wallpaper, then press Save to confirm.

Older Android versions

  1. On your Android home screen, long-press on any empty area and then under the Add to home screen menu, select Wallpapers.
  2. Select the source of your wallpaper, such as an image from your own photo gallery or the wallpaper gallery.
  3. Choose the wallpaper that you like and then set its orientation to portrait or landscape.
  4. Press Save to confirm.

Your device will then update your home screen wallpaper, and you can repeat the same steps in the future should you wish to change it up from time to time.
